Dorset Ooser half-marathon (Badger trail event, Purbeck trail series)

Weather: Sunny
Comments: Alec drove me there, left home at 8:30am for 10am start.
excellent 'covid rules management'; 10-min masked walk to start in pace groups, set off in 6's; good signage and marshals
ideal weather, no need for trail shoes; walked all the hills (as planned); lovely trail in bluebell woods;
Met Dawn there; pleased not to be last (generous cut-off time 4.5 hours).
Pubs too crowded to stop after, so had cider at home.
Age-groups: Results: only first 3 gents and ladies awards.
Results: Rosemarie: 2h 27m 13s; 137/272 finishers

Coombe Keynes (aka Lulworth Castle) 10k (Purbeck trail series)

20th Jun 202110k MT - slightly over-distance; hilly (not high but nowhere flat)
Venue: Coombe Keynes (near Wool)
Travelling time: 45 min
Weather: Mizzly.
Comments: Left home 8:15am. Met Dawn there.
Well organised, covid restrictions in place; 'park-run' style bar codes for race numbers and finish position
Just as hilly and a bit more muddy than previous years; 1st mile rather narrow and crowded; only walked up one hill at 5miles
No prize-giving, collected awards at finish
Couldn't get in pub for lunch (Father's day)
Age-groups: Every 10 years, gents and ladies.
Results: Rosemarie: 1hr04min02sec; 1st fv70 (of 3); wine-glass trophy.
46/147 ladies, 136/263 finishers.

Dorset Conquest half-marathon

4th Jul 202113.3 miles, trail, undulating
Venue: East Farm, Winterbourne Whitechurch (Blandford).
Travelling time: 45min
Weather: Cloudy, humid, rain
Comments: Very low-key event, 73 finishers; no other NFR
very tough; no big hills but nothing flat, all long undulations;
difficult underfoot, rough ground hiddden under grass and debris (had to walk some sections);
nice tracks thru woods but lots of tree roots;
ran out of energy when rain started at about 9.5 miles
Results: Rosemarie: 2h28m15sec; 48th of 73 finishers; 1st (only) fv70

Weather: Warm, dry.
Comments: good conditions; 87% age-rating!!! though official time is 10sec faster than my garmin;
like this course better than previous runs here, less crowding on 1st small lap, then 2 larger laps

Results: Rosemarie: 27min52sec; 32nd lady of 91, 130th of 240 finishers; 1st fv75. 87% age-grading.

Comments: good weather but lots of puddles; pb again!

Cranborne half-marathon (WSR event)

Venue: Sixpenny Handley brewery, Cranborne.
Travelling time: 35min
Weather: Slight drizzle at first, sun/cloud
Comments: Met Dawn there, plus a couple more NFRs
Very tough varied course, difficult underfoot in parts; walked most hills and long undulations;
lovely views from the top; didn't expect quite so much extra distance
enormous finishers medal, plus box of delicious chocolate+orange fudge

Purbeck 16

Venue: Swanage.
Travelling time: 10min from camp site
Weather: Good conditions, sun/cloud
Comments: Camped Saturday night at Tom's Field site (Langton Matravers)
Met Dawn in Swanage, collecting race nos. Saturday, and at race start.
Very tough varied course, difficult underfoot in parts; walked hills and long undulations;
lovely scenery: coast path, Corfe Castle, Purbeck Way; too much on tarmac for my liking
home via 7 Stars pub for lunch

Venue: Ladycross Inclosure.
Travelling time: 15min.to Sway for lift, +15min. to start car park.
Weather: Bright, chilly wind.
Comments: Lift from Sway with Mike McC; long walk to start from car park area
Yuck - all on gravel tracks; should have used road shoes
Only 3 NFR ladies (clash with London marathon) so we were the team
Loads of lovely cakes

Comments: PB!!!
Spoke to woman runner with dog off lead, took out my annoyance by running harder!

Studland Stampede (Purbeck trail series)

17th Oct 20217.5mile (12k) trail
Venue: Knoll beach NT car park, Studland; £5 charge for non-members.
Travelling time: 1hr via 9am ferry (left home 8:20am)
Weather: Mild, sunny, south wind
Comments: Alec took me there. Race start 10:30, tide still quite high.
Same course as before. Crowded start on beach, ok with chip timing. Started at front of 3rd 'wave', so no queues up zig-zag.
Long hill up from beach, then undulating over heath; hard work on soft sandy dunes and into wind on beach. Better run than last time.
Excellent 5-min free pre-race massage to release back. Queued for another longer session post-race.
Not many NFR there (all at GSR). Wooden 'eco medal' and small goody bag.
Age-groups: Prizes in 10-year age-groups.
Results:
Rosemarie: 1h:15m:52s 1st fv70 of 2.
60th of 170 ladies, 127th of 352 finishers

Also last race in Purbeck trail series, but no results yet.

Dorset 3 Peaks (Stickler)

31st Oct 202110.1 miles, mostly off-road, hilly.
Venue: Shillingstone Church Centre
Travelling time: about 1hr, left home 8am - early to get parked in road by race HQ as usual. Alec drove.
Weather: Sunny, very windy.
Comments: Main problem was getting there, through floods and fallen trees blocking roads.
The worst of the overnight storms moved on before the start, and the sun came out, but we still had to fight the wind on the hilltops.
We slithered about in the mud, the water was only ankle-deep, until the final bridge over the Stour was nearly waist-deep either side!
Same start and course as previous years: walked most of the hills.
Pleased to get under 2 hours.
Lunch at Fiddleford Inn - nice soup again.
Age-groups: 40+,50+,60+,70+ gents and ladies.

Travelling time: 25min (hold-up at roadworks in Ringwood).
Weather: Cloudy.
Comments: 1st time since post-covid restart; still too crowded
Wanted to go there before major A31 roadworks start next week
PB and new VF75 age-category record!
